About Us

Wine Education and Corporate Events

At our begining in 1985 we were wine enthusiasts,

arranging courses and private tastings for fellow enthusiasts.

We still are enthusiasts but now we also organise wine tastings and events

as hospitality for business clients as well

'tasteinwine', principally delivers tastings in Greater Manchester and Cheshire

but we do also travel further afield subject to arrangement.

We can organise a themed tasting event to meet your exact needs.

Our Principal Host

Chris Rowland, seen here outside Clos Vougeot, the heart of Burgundian winemaking, is our principal host. He has a WSET advanced certificate and qualified as a full judge in the International Wine Challenge through blind tasting exams. But perhaps most importantly he has been an enthusiastic communicator passionate about all things wine ever since leading his team to victory in the Manchester Evening News Wine Taster of the Year competition.

The Grand Cru, Clos Vougeot is a 50 hectare walled vineyard in the heart of Burgundy gently sloping down to N74. More than 70 vigneron produce wines from the Clos, some wines have great power and vibrancy. but the position of the vines in the Clos is very important, some of the lower plots near the road produce grapes and consequently wines of lesser quality -

Terrior is important.

The wave shape of the futuristic roofline echoes the peaks of the Sierra de Cantabria mountains situated immediately behind the winery just outside Laguardia in Rioja Alavasa region of Spain.

Built in 2001 the YSIOS winery design embodies the forward thinking nature of Rioja, their wines are a harmonious balance of fruit, oak, acidity and tannin, Signature elements of New Wave Rioja - alta expression wines.

The device seen above in a vineyard near Beaune in Burgundy is called a 'brouette de vigneron'. It is a monument to French ingenuity and the desire to spend as little money as possible! Fashioned from an old oil drum and welded to a rickety tubular frame sporting a tyreless pram wheel it is a mobile incinerator used for recycling the 'sarments' - vine clippings - back to the soil.
